PJ Talley

Vice President of Finance & Owner

PJ Talley joined The Builders Group in 2019 and serves as Vice President of Finance—and more often than not, the person who jumps in wherever he’s needed. With a background that spans public accounting, corporate finance, and real estate, PJ brings a well-rounded perspective to TBG’s operations.

His path to homebuilding began back in 2012, when real estate was more of a personal interest than a career. But it didn’t take long for that interest to grow into something more. Over the years, PJ has worked in public and private sectors, as a controller and auditor, which gave him exposure to everything from tax strategy to financial forecasting. That foundation prepared him to take on the fast-moving, problem-solving environment of homebuilding finance—and to thrive in it.

What he loves most about his work is seeing real impact: taking something from concept to completion, and knowing it directly affects people’s lives. For PJ, the best part of the building process happens at the very end—during the final walkthrough, when a homeowner sees their vision fully come to life. Especially when that homeowner has been involved from the beginning, that moment is powerful.

When asked for advice for first-time homebuyers, PJ keeps it simple: find a builder you trust—someone who will walk alongside you, communicate clearly, and treat the process like a partnership. Experience matters, but trust matters more.

His favorite space in a home? The kitchen-living room combo. Especially in an open-concept layout, that’s where the action happens—meals, memories, and everyday moments.

If he had to describe his work ethic in three words: driven, reliable, and dedicated. He’s someone people turn to when there’s a problem to solve—whether it’s finance-related or a random IT glitch.

Outside of work, PJ keeps moving. He loves anything active—basketball, tennis, pickleball, hitting the gym, or just playing outside with his kids. And if you didn’t know, he’s also a drummer in a band—a hidden talent that tends to surprise people. While his current season of life is too busy for pets, he’s a lifelong dog person (and a hard no on cats).
